Mapev mobile & web app

Plan.

Mapev helps keep the event planners chart out a detailed plan for the upcoming events. With the help of multiple template options, event planners can even explore spaces for large conventions, trade shows, and tech festivals.

Build.

Enhanced visualization of the event venues can be designed with the help of the builder tool. The tool provides a good variety of 2D & 3D features to easily create different types of event spaces like food stalls, convention centers, booths, transportation, signages for wayfinding, etc. Progress is shared with the team in real-time, making the discussions and collaborations easier.

Publish.

Working prototypes of the designed maps can be easily published to quickly test the performance on various modes of application. The interactive maps can be published and modified in real-time as part of the event apps later used by the event-goers.

Background

The idea originated from one of my visits to a large design event, where there were hundreds of people were to participate over a full week. The event was spread over a few-mile radius with multiple events happening across several campuses. Most of the time these events equip the people with a map catalog or its image. Sometimes even a mobile app.

I always wondered if I had a map in the application itself so I could easily navigate through my itinerary of the events and plan my day at the event.

Problem

Although the map at this event application was a nice graphical image, it did not serve much purpose beyond it. I had to go back and forth with Google Maps to see how I would reach my destination which was quite frustrating for me while handling & juggling between a lot of things. to navigate and schedule events.

Goal

Create a map builder tool for event planners to plan, design, and develop interactive maps that would change the way we navigate these large public events today.

A Design tool for Maps with both 2D & 3D features, that would give planners and developers good control as well as the creative freedom to design & publish interactive maps.

Mapev, Mobile Application for Event-Goers

Wayfinding is one of the major problems that event-goers face today in these large events.

Most of the maps available today are just static illustrations that only provide a high-level view of planned events. It is frustrating for the event-goers to navigate themselves by using these static maps as it does not allow them to plan their event properly. Usually, they are juggling between Google Maps and these static illustrations. MAPEV will allow the user to plan their itinerary, manage transportation, and keep track of various events and amenities.

Manage Itinerary

Users can view multiple event locations. They can save their desired event locations and the ones that are bustling with activity at that moment.

MAPEV will smartly suggest itineraries based on user needs, so users don’t have to spend more time hunting for their favorites.

Way-Finding

The users can schedule their multiple points of travel based on the set time. This will enable them to save time & catch up quickly with the events in the area.

The user can choose or add an engaging route at any point.

Mapev, Builder Tool for Event-Planners

Event Planners are responsible for identifying event locations and allocating resources like transportation, catering, advertising, communication, information technology, etc.

Usually, there is a dedicated team of planners, architects, designers, marketing, communication experts, and engineers that make these large events a reality.

Mapev builder tool will allow these different groups to collaborate and design interactive maps for the event. Currently, there is a dedicated design/illustration team that takes care of designing mobile applications and other event-related art effects like branding material, and more.

Mapev will open new opportunities for this team to explore their creativity in solving some of the key challenges of wayfinding, planning, and organizing for their target users, i.e., event-goers.

Import Geographical Maps

On proceeding further MAPEV opens a map option for the user to select a location for their Event. The user has the option can mark the place manually or pin the exact areas.

The map location can always be edited later while working on the builder tool.

Select Pre-defined Templates

MAPEV builder tool offers a bunch of templates to choose from categorically.

The most popular genres populate the screen. The user will find a mix of free templates along with the starred templates that can be purchased.

Build Maps

The builder tool loads based on the settings input by the user. The user can reset a new artboard space. To guide the users with the necessary steps an automated bot ‘Zi’ is available on pop-up anytime.

The tools are accessed through top bar navigation and sidebar navigation. The top bar is divided into menu items along with actionable buttons. The side navigation has the list menu type that has the contents listed in the form of a visual.

Mind Mapping tool

The mind mapping tool is a collaborative tool where the users can input their thoughts, and conversations with suggestions, ideas, and updates.

The mind mapping has multiple templates the users can choose from that best suit their planning type.
